There's a lot of limitations to the game although some people have been creative in making their own mini-games such as gauntlets and ball games in order to encourage socialization and a break from the standard craft and skill grind.
That said there are "favourite" lots that players often swarm to once they're open so you should probably consider being a roomie at once of those unless you really want a place of your own.Īs for the game play it's as slow as ever, lots of people just do stuff whilst afk because it takes so long to skill up and the skill decay is so fast that you're spending far too much time needing to keep your skills topped up until you get enough skill locks to lock them in place, but with only 1 additional lock per week it'll take just over 2 years to lock down all 120 points. Since the people who revived the game cannot make any money in form for developing and hosting the game it is slow going with fixes and a lot of the 3D meshes look odd, however there are updates as they come.īecause of the low population many newer lots are desperately scrambling for roomies to help run their lots and keep them open, but often new players who decide to stick around prefer to make their own homes and further increasing the need for roomies. The community has a diverse range since the rules for what can be discussed is entirely up to the lot owners, there's no actual rules on what can and can't be said. There's a revival of the project called FreeSO that's been around for a couple of years but the community is dwindling and many lots are abandoned. Also the population is very small in comparison since most people are playing several characters at once, so even though you're in a lot with 12 people it may only be 3-4 legitimate players and several alts.ĮA isn't gonna revive TSO. If you play just 1 character at a time then you're rewarding yourself with a steady pace and being able to spend time getting to know other players, but if you use multiple accounts and characters it takes away the challenge of succeeding in making your own place and getting all your skills maxed out. This also results in some lots not resetting to sync with the newspapers because of people not leaving them. Because of there being no anti-afk bot people in skill and welcome lots will tend to be afk most the time and not participating in discussions much. There's also support for custom objects in OSW which is nice if you're fed up of the same generic items.Īs for the community itself many of the players are ex-FreeSO players who got tired of the amount of sexually explicit conversations that are common in many lots in FreeSO (not all of them are bad but there are a number of lots that have gained reputation for it.) The admins are also much more easier to come across and are very helpful and often interact within the game restoring items and speeding up the life cycle to Mystic Trees in community lots. Money and skill objects offer higher payouts than those in FreeSO which makes it much more easier to keep on top of skills and for building your own homes a lot quicker, especially if you're running multiple sims at once. If you want to do something else besides hosting you can set your lot to a community type, this means that people can visit your lot even if you aren't there.
Guests can also cook food on your lots if you allow it so you're not having to do all the cooking yourself. Hosting is far more easier in OSW due to community lots allowing you to completely fill your needs up and Mystic Trees that will boost your needs almost to full, so you don't have to constantly chase people around for serenades. This doesn't have an afk timeout like FreeSO has so you gotta watch out so your sim doesn't die from neglect! You can also play all 3 characters at once and even own and play multiple accounts so you don't have to struggle looking for that one lot where you can get max speed on the skills you need to work on. This is another server like FreeSO by different moderators. Another remake to mention is Our Sim World.
